In the national wine landscape, there is no producer more universally respected than Niepoort, whose long history began in 1842 when the first Van Der Niepoort arrived in Portugal. By entering the Port wine market as a merchant, he quickly set up a business that proved both prosperous and forward‑looking. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born—a prominent figure in the wine world, recognised as one of the most influential personalities working for Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also building his legacy with those who constantly create bold wines. Today, Dirk Niepoort is involved in many other projects across virtually all national wine regions and some overseas ones. The bottling year may not match the image shown (illustrative only).
