In the national wine landscape, there is no producer more widely recognised than Niepoort, and the long history began in 1842 with the first Van Der Niepoort arriving in Portugal. Starting as a merchant in the Port wine market, he quickly established a business that would prove prosperous and lasting. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born, an unstoppable producer in the wine world, recognised as one of the most important figures who has worked, and continues to work, for Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also shaping his legacy with those who are always creating irreverent wines.
