In the national wine panorama, there is no producer more respected than Niepoort, whose long history began in 1842 when the first Van Der Niepoort arrived in Portugal. Entering the Port wine market as a merchant, he quickly set up a business that proved prosperous and forward‑looking. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort emerged—a leading figure in the wine world, recognised as one of the most important personalities who has worked and continues to work for Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with several dozen producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while building his legacy with those who constantly create irreverent wines.
