In an excellent year like 2015, the great challenge was selecting the final lot from over 60,000 liters of high‑quality wines—all capable of joining a remarkable Vintage Port. For more than a year, Dirk Niepoort, Nicholas Delaforce and Rodrigo Nogueira “tightened the sieve,” meticulously choosing the best barrels for the 2015 Vintage Port. In April 2017, a 20,000‑liter batch was selected as the best of the best. The result is a Vintage Port with intense concentration, vigor and complexity, yet also extremely elegant and remarkably fresh. Like the superb 2011 vintage, 2015 offers very robust tannins but with a silkier texture. It presents a strong structure, balance and notable freshness, thanks to firm acidity and a lower degree of sweetness.
