In the national wine panorama, there is no more widely respected producer than Niepoort, and the long history began in 1842 when the first Van Der Niepoort arrived in Portugal. Starting out as a wine merchant in the Port wine market, he quickly established a business that would prove prosperous and enduring. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born—a pivotal figure in the world of wine, recognized as one of the most important personalities working for and with Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also building his own legacy with those who are always creating bold wines.
