The grapes for Redoma Branco come from old vines on the right bank of the Douro River, at altitudes ranging from 400 to 600 m. These vineyards are predominantly planted with Rabigato, Códega do Larinho, Viosinho, Donzelinho, and Gouveio. Their micaceous soils give rise to wines that are very mineral, delicate, and wonderfully fresh. In the national wine scene, there is no more consensual producer than Niepoort, whose long history began in 1842 with the first Van Der Niepoort arriving in Portugal. Starting as a Port wine merchant, he quickly established a thriving and forward-looking business. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born, an indispensable figure in the wine world and recognized as one of the most important personalities devoted to Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also building his legacy with those who are always creating bold wines. Today, Dirk Niepoort works on many other projects, in practically all Portuguese wine regions and some abroad.
