In the national wine panorama there is no more consensus producer than Niepoort, and its long history began in 1842 with the first Van Der Niepoort arriving in Portugal. Starting out in the Port wine market as a trader, he quickly established a business that would prove prosperous and enduring. Thus, in the fifth generation Dirk Niepoort was born, an influential producer in the world of wine, recognised as one of the most important figures who has worked, and continues to work, for Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helped them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also building his own legacy with those who are always creating daring wines. Today, Dirk Niepoort is involved in many other projects across almost all Portuguese wine regions and some abroad. The bottling year may not correspond to the image shown (illustrative only).
