Description

Tawny wines are red wines made from the same grapes as Ruby wines, but they only mature for two to three years in oak barrels before being transferred to casks. The casks allow greater contact between the wine, the wood, and the air. As a result, Tawny wines “breathe” more, oxidizing and aging rapidly. Because of this high level of oxidation, Tawny wines lose the original deep red hue, developing lighter amber tones and flavors reminiscent of dried fruits such as nuts or almonds. With age, they acquire even more aromatic complexity, enriching their bouquet. The year indicated on the bottle may not match the image shown (illustrative only).
