Description

The history of Favaios is lost in time. Its name comes from “Flávius,” an ancient Roman settlement that once belonged to the land of Panoías. Its development has followed the dynasties. Since 1952, in the Demarcated Region of the Douro, the Cooperative Winery of Favaios has become one of the country’s largest and most recognized, especially for the unmistakable quality of its Aperitif and Moscatel de Favaios. The village’s growth owes much to wine, which has played a huge role in the local economy and architecture. Noticing the rising market demands and the internal shortcomings typical of facilities dating back to 1952, the Favaios Cooperative Winery chose to invest in modernising and revitalising its infrastructure, now boasting more than 550 members.
