Sogrape Vinhos was founded in 1942 by Fernando van Zeller Guedes with the ambition of introducing Portuguese wines to the world and a long‑term vision grounded in the quality of the wines sold, the importance of brand innovation, and the presentation of its products. Today, led by the third generation of the founding family, Sogrape Vinhos increasingly fulfills the goal set at its inception: to be a family‑run company with an international outlook, focused on producing quality wines, driving innovation, and developing Portuguese brands of global standing. The company owns roughly 830 hectares of vineyards in Portugal. Offley, founded in London in 1737 by William Offley as a wine trading house, quickly began exporting wines and later produced its own port wine, earning the brand worldwide recognition as a producer of high‑quality wines. A pivotal moment for the company’s growth came when Joseph James Forrester joined as a partner. Known as the Baron of Forrester, he played a key role in expanding the international trade of port wine and was the first to map the Douro River and valley, earning him recognition and membership in several European societies of geography and arts.
