Sogrape Vinhos was founded in 1942 by Fernando van Zeller Guedes, with the ambition of introducing the world to Portuguese wines and a long‑term vision centred on the quality of the wines marketed, the importance of brand innovation, and the presentation of its products. Today, led by the third generation of the founding family, Sogrape Vinhos increasingly fulfills the goal set at its inception: to be a family‑run company with an international outlook, focused on producing quality wines, fostering innovation, and developing Portuguese brands of global standing. The company manages roughly 830 hectares of vineyards across Portugal. Offley, established in London in 1737 by William Offley as a wine trading house, quickly began exporting wines and later produced its own Port, earning the brand worldwide recognition as a producer of high‑quality wines. The decisive moment for the company's expansion came when Joseph James Forrester joined as a partner. Known as the Baron of Forrester, he played a pivotal role in the international growth of Port wine and was the first to map the Douro River and valley, earning him recognition and membership in several European societies of Geography and the Arts.
