The Quinta da Pacheca, one of the most well‑known estates in the Douro, is distinguished by being among the first to bottle its own branded wines. The name of this estate appears as far back as 17 April 1738, when a dated document first refers to the Quinta da Pacheca, then owned by D. Mariana Pacheco Pereira. It was only in 1903 that D. José Freire de Serpa Pimentel decided to pursue his growing passion for oenology, buying the property to focus on viticultural production. Today, a century later, the new generation of the Serpa Pimentel family—Maria, Catarina and José—assumes the estate’s management, bringing a deeply family‑oriented character to the business. The bottling year may not match the image shown. (illustrative picture)
