Quinta da Pacheca, one of the most renowned estates in the Douro, stands out for having been among the first to bottle its own branded wines. The estate’s name has been referenced since April 17, 1738, when a dated document first mentions the “Quinta da Pacheca” because its owner at the time was D. Mariana Pacheco Pereira. However, it was not until 1903 that D. José Freire de Serpa Pimentel decided to pursue his growing interest in enology, purchasing the property with the aim of dedicating himself to viticulture and wine production. Today, a century later, the new generation of the Serpa Pimentel family takes over the estate’s management: Maria, Catarina and José are the youthful faces of this family‑centric business.
