Quinta da Pacheca, one of the most renowned estates in the Douro, is noted for being among the first to bottle its own branded wines. The name of the estate first appears in a dated document from 17 April 1738, when the reference to “Quinta da Pacheca” is made because the owner at the time was D. Mariana Pacheco Pereira. It was not until 1903, however, that D. José Freire de Serpa Pimentel decided to pursue his growing passion for oenology, buying the property with the goal of dedicating himself to wine production. Today, a century later, the new generation of the Serpa Pimentel family runs the estate: Maria, Catarina, and José are the young faces of this family‑run business. The year of bottling may not match the image shown. (image purely illustrative)
