The Quinta da Pacheca, one of the most renowned estates in the Douro, is notable for being among the first to bottle its own branded wines. Its name appears in records as far back as 17 April 1738, when a dated document first references the “da Pacheca” estate, owned by D. Mariana Pacheco Pereira. It was not until 1903 that D. José Freire de Serpa Pimentel, driven by a growing passion for enology, bought the property with the intention of dedicating himself to viticulture and winemaking. Today, a century later, the new generation of the Serpa Pimentel family – Maria, Catarina, and José – takes over the estate’s management, continuing the family‑run tradition.
