Quinta da Pacheca, one of the most well‑known estates in the Douro, stands out for being one of the first to bottle its own branded wines. The name of this estate dates back to April 17, 1738, when a dated document first mentions the “da Pacheca” estate, as its owner was D. Mariana Pacheco Pereira. However, it was not until 1903 that D. José Freire de Serpa Pimentel decided to pursue his growing interest in enology, buying the property with the goal of dedicating himself to wine production. Today, a century later, the new generation of the Serpa Pimentel family takes over the estate: Maria, Catarina, and José are the young faces of this family‑run business. The year of bottling may not match the image presented. (illustrative image only)
