The clay‑limestone soils are well‑drained, and the mild climate is strongly influenced by the Atlantic. **Grapes** The estate was planted at its inception with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot – varieties that thrive in these conditions, allowing for slow, balanced ripening. **History** In the 2000 harvest, beyond producing wines under the Quinta da Bacalhôa label, the estate decided to release a new red wine from the property: Palácio da Bacalhôa. This wine comes from a selection of Quinta wines that, after oak maturation, are evaluated and chosen for superior quality. Up to 2016, Palácio releases have included the vintages 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2013, and 2014.
