Despite the September and October hustle in Rioja – with its 300 million kilos of grapes arriving – the Palacios Remondo team remarkably maintained their composure. The anticipated ‘grand’ harvest was tempered by grey rot, but their skill in selecting the fruit, both in the vineyard and the cellar, ensured only the finest portion made it to fermentation. A wine well worth holding onto, perhaps paired with a hearty roast for maximum impact from those prominent grape varieties.
