This robust red from Paulo Laureno, hailing from the Alentejo, is a real tribute to the Tinta Grossa grape. It’s got a wonderfully substantial structure, driven by firm tannins – almost like a velvety hug, really. The intense dark fruit flavours, with hints of perfectly ripe dark fruit, definitely point to time spent ageing in oak. Seriously, this would be fantastic with a grilled beef steak, perhaps a good ancho (thick-cut) steak with a rich red wine sauce.
