According to its age, the wines may show signs left by time, such as dust residues on the bottles and/or some label damage—common in wines that have been stored for decades. The National Cellar is committed to storing all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but it always chooses to preserve the visual appearance that comes with their age. We usually select brands/regions that tend to perform well in old‑wine tastings. However, wine is a living organism that, like everything else, is exposed to time; even inside a bottle, aromas evolve in different ways. Therefore, the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, given that it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open the bottle and let it breathe beforehand, as this helps release the wine’s natural aromas after many years of being sealed. Avoid decanting, as it can be too aggressive for old wines. (illustrative image)
