It seems the Fundação Eugénio de Almeida’s Peras Manca Magnum has had a rather intense tête-à-tête with its Arinto and Antão Vaz grapes – a conversation marked by a restrained approach. Following a thorough délestage and a gentle crush, the berries were subjected to a press that clearly preferred a calm demeanor. The careful use of both stainless steel (16°C) and French oak (12 months with batonnage) suggests a concerted effort to achieve harmony, while the batonnage hints at a pursuit of refined elegance. Remarkably, this wine has clearly matured, and would pair beautifully with perfectly grilled fish or a touch of something delightfully adventurous.
