Pico Wines Frei Gigante Branco

Description

This “Frei Gigante” from Pico Wines certainly demands a healthy dose of respect – and it delivers. Built around the classic Touriga Nacional, with a touch of Aragonez adding a wonderfully rugged character, this wine is intensely fruity and full-bodied. Hints of the Douro’s schistous terroir are evident, and the bottle aging seems to have mellowed out some of its initial intensity. A bronze medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards is a particularly fitting accolade for a wine of this stature – perhaps best enjoyed alongside a succulent black pork dish.
