This “Piloto Collection Síria” from Setúbal is a genuinely surprising experience. It’s a beautifully aged expression of Memel grapes, with a touch of Trincadeira adding a complexity that feels pulled straight from an Alentejo tapestry. Initially, you’ll pick up notes of sun-dried fruits and a hint of honey – a testament to a winemaking process that honours tradition whilst remaining delightfully inquisitive. While it snagged a medal at the Decanter World Competition, I’d recommend pairing it with a hearty roast – it needs a proper, substantial dish to truly unfurl.
