The vines of the Nerello Mascalese variety, which is used to make Planeta Etna Rosso, are located in Castiglione di Sicilia (Catania), just a few kilometres from Mount Etna. They thrive on its volcanic sandy soils, which give the wine a pronounced mineral character. On the nose it offers spicy and fruity notes, and on the palate it becomes full-bodied, expressive and spicy.
