It all began in 1918, when Manoel Domingues Poças Jr., born amid the fervour of Port wine, decided to start his own business. At about 30 years old, Manoel Poças already had some industry experience, and together with his uncle he founded a company supplying brandies to major Port wine producers. Years later he established the headquarters of his business in Vila Nova de Gaia, where it has remained ever since. The entire Poças family shared a passion for wine, blending reverence for tradition with an open mind to the innovations brought by newer generations. Today, with three estates in the finest locations of the Douro Demarcated Region, Poças has total control over the quality of its wines.
