It all began in 1918, when Manoel Domingues Poças Júnior—born in the midst of the Port wine bustle—decided to start his own business. At about thirty, with some industry experience and the help of his uncle, he founded a company that supplied brandy to major Port wine producers. Years later, he set up the company’s headquarters in Vila Nova de Gaia, where it remains to this day. The whole Poças family shared a passion for wine, marrying respect for tradition with an openness to the innovation of newer generations. Today, with three estates in the finest locations of the Douro Demarcated Region, Poças wields complete control over the quality of its wines. The bottling year may not match the image presented.
