Everything began in 1918, when Manoel Domingues Poças Junior—born amid the Port wine frenzy—decided to start his own business. At about 30 years old, Manoel Poças had some industry experience, and together with his uncle he founded a brandy supplier company for major Port producers. Years later he moved the headquarters to Vila Nova de Gaia, where it has remained ever since. The entire Poças family shared a passion for wine, blending respect for tradition with an openness to the innovations of newer generations. Today, with three estates in the best locations of the Douro Demarcated Region, Poças has full control over the quality of its wines.
