With the inaugural edition of Poeirinho 2012, Dirk Niepoort decided to set aside two barrels for a longer ageing period, aiming to create a Bairrada bottling. The wine has always retained a great freshness, and the extended maturation allowed it to gain more complexity and structure. The Poeirinho Garrafeira 2012 comes from several very old plots, some of which are centuries old.
