This Montepulciano from Poggio Anima Samael is a decidedly bold choice. The Sangiovese-influenced grapes deliver a vibrant acidity and firm tannins, very much reflective of this region’s distinctive terroir. It’s a wine that’s been praised by critics, achieving top marks in *Wine Spectator*, and boasts an intense fruit character reminiscent of the best Sangiovese examples. Seriously, it pairs brilliantly with grilled beef – or for the adventurous, a rich mushroom risotto.
