Description

Herdade do Monte da Ribeira dates back to 1958, and was acquired in 1986 by industrialist Victor Carmona e Costa. In the following 15 years he not only completely refurbished the estate, but also established the current agricultural production structure and winery. The estate is located in the parish of Pedrogão, within the municipality of Vidigueira, near the village of Marmelar. It covers about 1,100 hectares, dedicated to viticulture and forestry. As wine production is one of the estate’s main focuses, the first vineyard was planted in 1989, and the first harvest came in 1992, marketed under the Vidigueira label. Later, the Pousio and Quatro Caminhos labels were added, and most recently, the Marmelar brand. (Illustrative image only)
