Description

The Herdade do Monte da Ribeira dates back to 1958, and was acquired in 1986 by industrialist Victor Carmona e Costa, who over the next 15 years not only completely renovated the estate but also established its current agricultural production and cellar infrastructure. The estate is situated in the parish of Pedrogão, within the municipality of Vidigueira and near the village of Marmelar, covering roughly 1,100 hectares devoted to viticulture and forestry. With winemaking as a primary focus, the first vineyard was planted in 1989, and the first harvest appeared in 1992, marketed under the Vidigueira label. Later, the Pousio and Quatro Caminhos brands were added, and most recently the Marmelar brand. (illustrative image only)
