This Pretexto Palhete is a seriously bold venture from the Dão – a testament to the producer’s daring to co-ferment Jaén and Alfrocheiro with a touch of Encruzado and Bical, all sourced from steeply-sloped granite soils. The result is a rosé of intense colour, brimming with spicy notes and a refreshing green edge, a clear nod to the whole-bunch winemaking technique. It’s got excellent acidity and would pair beautifully with something a little adventurous, though it would also shine alongside a salty seafood dish or perfectly grilled fish.
