According to its age, wines may show marks left by time, such as dust residues on the bottles and/or some damage to the labels—common in wines that have been stored for decades. The National Cellar is committed to storing all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but it always chooses to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. We usually select brands/regions that typically perform well in old‑wine tastings. However, wine is a living organism that, like others, is exposed to time, and even within a bottle, aromas are subject to different evolutions. Therefore, the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the quality of the wine, as it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle air out beforehand, as this will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years of being sealed. Avoid decanting; it may be too aggressive for old wines. (Illustrative image only)
