Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, founded in 1922 as João Pires & Filhos, has followed a long journey, establishing itself as one of the country’s most innovative wine producers. The company began by crafting wines from grapes grown in the Palmela region. Throughout the 1980s, Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal expanded, acquiring vineyards across the nation and setting new standards for quality wine production. Considered the finest estate from the first half of the 15th century still standing in Portugal, Quinta da Bacalhôa is an old royal property. Located in Azeitão, the estate and the famous Palácio da Bacalhôa form an artistic monument of great significance to the nation. Today, Quinta da Bacalhôa belongs to the Berardo Foundation, which is owned by the family of the same name and headed by Commander José Berardo. It was declared a National Monument on June 23, 1910. In the surroundings of Quinta da Bacalhôa, visitors can find charming villages, cellars, and one of Portugal’s most beautiful and imposing landscapes – the Arrábida Natural Park.
