Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, founded in 1922 under the name João Pires & Filhos, has made a long journey, establishing itself as one of the most innovative wine producers in Portugal. The company began by producing wines from grapes grown in the Palmela region. Throughout the 1980s, Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal expanded, acquiring properties across the country and creating new paradigms for quality wine production. Considered the most beautiful estate from the first half of the 15th century still existing in Portugal, Quinta da Bacalhôa was an ancient property of the Portuguese Royal House. Located in Azeitão, the Quinta and the famous Palace of Bacalhôa form an artistic monument of great significance to the country. Today, Quinta da Bacalhôa belongs to the Berardo Foundation, which is part of the family of the same name, headed by Commander José Berardo. On 23 June 1910 it was classified as a National Monument. In the surrounding area of Quinta da Bacalhôa, visitors find picturesque villages, wineries, and one of Portugal's most beautiful and imposing landscapes – the Arrábida Natural Park.
