This Quinta da Calçada Reserva clearly spent some time reflecting before revealing its full potential. Crafted from Alvarinho, Loureiro and Arinto grapes, the wine underwent a gentle pressing and then eight months in French oak barrels – a little like a refined conversation, wouldn’t you say? The result is a brilliantly pale yellow wine with a wonderfully persistent aroma and a refreshingly sharp acidity that practically argues with the wine’s underlying minerality. Robert Parker, predictably, awarded it 89 points, noting a long, cool finish that’s perfect alongside some fresh seafood.
