According to its age, wines may show marks left by time, such as dust residue in the bottles and/or some damage to the labels, which is common in wines that have spent decades in storage. Garrafeira Nacional stores all wines at the proper temperature and humidity but always maintains the visual appearance inherent to their age. We typically select regions that usually perform well in old‑wine competitions. However, wine is a living organism that, like others, is exposed to time, and even inside a bottle its aromas undergo various evolutions. Therefore, Garrafeira Nacional cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, as it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle air out first, which will help release the natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting, as it can be too aggressive for old wines.
