Depending on its age, wines may show time‑related marks such as dust on the bottles and/or label damage—common in vintages that have spent decades in storage. Garrafeira Nacional stores all wines at the proper temperature and humidity, yet it intentionally preserves the visual signs of age. We typically select brands and regions that usually perform well in old‑wine competitions. However, wine is a living organism exposed to time; even inside a bottle, its aromas evolve. Accordingly, Garrafeira Nacional cannot be held liable for the wine’s quality, as it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle breathe first, which helps release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting, as it may be too aggressive for old wines.
