Quinta da Pacheca, one of the most well‑known estates in the Douro, stands out for being among the first to bottle wines under its own label. The estate’s name has been referenced since 17 April 1738, when a dated document first mentions the “Quinta da Pacheca” because its owner was D. Mariana Pacheco Pereira. It was only in 1903 that D. José Freire de Serpa Pimentel decided to pursue his growing interest in enology, purchasing the property with the aim of dedicating himself to viticultural production. Today, a century later, the new generation of the Serpa Pimentel family takes over the estate’s management: Maria, Catarina and José are the young faces of this family‑run business.
