The Pacheca Tony Carreira Reserva is a wine made from Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Nacional grapes grown in the plots of Quinta da Pacheca, about 40 years old. It is a young ruby-red wine, intense in color, with a very fruity nose featuring prominent blackberry and plum notes, balanced with chocolate from the barrel. On the palate it is well balanced, with polished tannins and a long, persistent finish. Quinta da Pacheca, one of the most renowned estates in the Douro, is noted for being among the first to bottle its own branded wines. The name of this Quinta has been recorded since 17 April 1738, when a dated document first references the “da Pacheca” property, owned by D. Mariana Pacheco Pereira. However, it was only in 1903 that D. José Freire de Serpa Pimentel decided to pursue his growing interest in oenology, purchasing the estate with the aim of dedicating himself to wine production. Today, a century later, the new generation of the Serpa Pimentel family—Maria, Catarina, and José—assumes the management of the Quinta: they are the young faces of this firmly family‑run business.
