This wine from Quinta da Pedra Escrita is a delightfully precise creation, clearly the work of a young, thoughtful winemaker like Rui Roboredo. The hand-harvested grapes – a blend of Jaén, Sousão, and Touriga Nacional – were treated with the care they deserve, and the extended, cool maceration (two weeks) really intensifies that fresh vibrancy. The fermentation, taking place in 300L French oak barrels and benefiting from a notable malolactic fermentation, introduces lovely floral nuances alongside a subtle bergamot zest. Critics are predicting a wine with serious ageing potential – a fantastic match for a robust beef roast, naturally.
