Description

This Verdelho from Quinta da Pedra Escrita seems to have been crafted with an almost devotional intensity. The winemakers, armed with their battered 15kg baskets, clearly sought to coax every last drop of flavour from the grapes, as if determined to unlock their deepest secrets. The meticulously controlled, cold fermentation – held at a precise 16°C – alongside an inert atmosphere, speaks to a rather fervent desire for absolute control. The result is a wine with a remarkably refined texture, enhanced by subtle lees, and a vibrant acidity that practically begs for a bold food pairing; perhaps with a white fish and a hint of black pepper?
