The earliest historical references to Quinta da Pellada date back to around 1570. The Demarcated Region of the Dão was established in 1908, framed by the three mountain massifs—Buçaco, Caramulo and Serra da Estrela—which shield it from Atlantic winds and give it exceptionally unique climatic conditions. Álvaro Castro is one of Portugal’s finest producers and the undisputed leader in his Dão region.
