Quinta da Romaneira This wine represents the ultimate expression of the noble Douro varieties grown at Quinta da Romaneira. Each year we carefully select the finest lots—primarily Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, and occasionally Tinto Cão—from a spread of plots across the estate to craft this limited‑edition wine. Consequently, the Reserva reflects the whole vineyard of Romaneira, not just a single plot. Viticultural Year After a cold, dry winter, the 2018 spring was unusually wet, fostering vigorous foliage growth. The early summer remained atypical, with rain and mild temperatures, until a hot, dry spell settled in the weeks before the harvest. During August, a heatwave pushed temperatures above 40 °C for several days, giving the grapes character and intensity. These extreme conditions yielded a highly concentrated, aromatic wine true to Romaneira’s terroir. Vinification Derived from a rigorous selection of grapes harvested from plots less than 250 m above sea level—including old vines—this batch consists of 72 % Touriga Nacional and 28 % Touriga Francesa. Fermentation occurred in stainless‑steel vats for 12 days, followed by malolactic fermentation. Staging 100 % of the wine aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 35 % of which were new.
