The name Mário Sérgio Alves Nuno may not say much to the most distracted, but he is the great mentor behind the outstanding wines of Quinta das Bágeiras. The estate’s history traces back to the work of three generations, yet it was only in 1989, under Mário Sérgio’s guidance, that the wines of Quinta das Bágeiras began to be bottled and sold, quickly becoming a benchmark for Bairrada and Portuguese wines alike. Though produced following the traditions of earlier generations, these wines are never fads; they are perpetually in vogue, revealing each harvest the character of the region and the people who create them.
