“This Fogueira from Quinta das Bágeiras certainly isn’t shy – and perhaps that’s what makes it so captivating. Born from the excellent clay-limestone soils of Bairrada, with the Baga grape providing its signature character, it’s a wine of intense, almost confrontational quality. The aromas are a delightful plunge into dried plum and cedar, with a smoky edge that adds a remarkably complex layer. On the palate, freshness and volume contrast with a robust structure and a smooth body, though frankly, that bit of ‘roughness’ can be a bit of a challenge! As Mário Sérgio would agree, this wine is a clear statement of Bairrada’s potential – a wine with personality, energy, and a finish that's perfect alongside slow-roasted meats or game.”
