The name Mário Sérgio Alves Nuno may not mean much to the most distracted, but he is nothing less than the great mentor behind the outstanding wines of Quinta das Bágeiras. The estate’s history already traces back to three generations; however, it was only in 1989, under Mário Sérgio’s stewardship, that Quinta das Bágeiras began bottling and selling its wines, quickly becoming a benchmark for Bairrada and Portuguese wines. Though made according to the methods of previous generations, the Quinta das Bágeiras wines are not trend‑driven, but always in style, revealing the character of the region and its people with each harvest.
