“Established for nearly 15 years, Quinta das Marias knows exactly what it does: this Encruzado isn't rushed. Following a meticulous hand-harvest, where the grapes are gently transported in 20kg crates, the wine enjoys a remarkably contemplative maceration (18°C for 17 days). The bâtonnage, intended to unlock further complexity, is maintained for the first month and a half before the wine is gracefully drawn off the lees. This Encruzado clearly needs time to reveal its character – it certainly seems to have some fascinating tales to tell. A perfect match with white fish or grilled seafood, perhaps alongside a delicious arroz de marisco.”
