The Sanguinhal Agricultural Company was founded in the 1920s by Abel Pereira da Fonseca in the Bombarral region. At that time, Abel Pereira da Fonseca owned the country’s largest network of public retail outlets, leveraging his position to create a company devoted solely to the production and trade of wine. The Sanguinhal Agricultural Company comprises three estates—Quinta do Sanguinhal, Quinta das Cerejeiras, and Quinta de São Francisco—located in the Lisbon Wine Region, specifically within the Demarcated Region of Óbidos. Here the properties benefit from a micro‑climate shaped by the Montejunto mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, giving the still, sweet and fortified wines a fresh, balanced profile that reveals their unique characteristics.
