The Sanguinhal Agricultural Company was founded in the 1920s by Abel Pereira da Fonseca in the Bombarral region. At that time, Pereira da Fonseca owned the largest chain of public retail outlets in the country, using his position to establish a company dedicated solely to wine production and trade. The Sanguinhal Agricultural Company comprises three estates: Quinta do Sanguinhal, Quinta das Cerejeiras, and Quinta de São Francisco, all located in the Lisbon Wine Region, specifically the Demarcated Region of Óbidos. Here the properties benefit from a microclimate provided by the Montejunto Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, giving the still, fortified, and spirit wines a fresh, balanced profile that showcases their unique characteristics.
